Bhimtal is situated in Nainital district of Uttarakhand and only 22 km away from Nainital district it is a Nagar Panchyat in small town. Bhimtal is situated at 1370 meters height from sea level as we know that Nainital district is known as lake City of India so it is also part of  Nainital and the main attraction of Bhimtal is it's Lake, it has an Island in the center of the lake which has a restaurant as well. Bhimtal is mini district of Nainital since many administration offices have been shifted in this town.
Bhimtal got it's name from Bhim who was one of the five pandavas and part of Mahabharata. With lake and surrounded by mountains which are covered with trees and snow during winter make it perfect tourists destination it has many tourists attention in which lake is famous and it is larger than Naini lake.
Bhimtal lake is green because of surrounded by trees and this is house of a lot of aquatic life.

  This lake becomes heaven during winter when migratory birds come here for 6 months in winter more than 10000 birdwatchers come here every year.
Bhimeshwar temple is located on the bank of this lake which is dedicated to Lord Shiva it is believed that Bhim used to pray in this temple. However, the temple was reconstructed in the 17th century by Raja Baz Bahadur of the Chand Dynasty.
Garg parvat is situated next to this temple and gives birth to Fargo River.Nag temple is another famous temple and place which is on Karkotaka hill and this temple is dedicated to Nag Debra and visited by many devotees on Nah Panchami to get bless and happiness from Nag Kaekotka Maharaj.
Hidamba Parvat is a famous tourist place in Bhimtal which is 5 km away from Bhimtal and named on Bhim,s wife, in this time this is famous for a beautiful wildlife sanctuary, and known as Vankhandi Ashram.


Apart from these nam damyanti tal is also a best location for picnic and visited in a big amount.
HOW TO REACH

Road : 22 Kms from Nainital get taxi from Nainital and you will reach in 20 m.
Train- Kathgodam is nearest railway station and this is only 30 km away from here and takes only half an hour to reach and you can get bus or private jepp.

Air- Panthnagar is nearest airport which is about 70 km from here get a private taxi or but and it will take 2 hrs.
