Nainital Tourism

                     Lake City Nainital

Nainital is known as lake City of India and this is one of the most visited hill stations of India. Nainital got it's name from Naina Devi temple and lake(tal). With lake City Nainital is judicial capital of Uttarakhand and this is headquarter of Kumaun division as well. Nainital is a district and resident of Governor of Uttarakhand.
In past Nainital used to be Summer capital of British and it was founded by a British officer P. Barron in 1841 and apart from Naina Devi temple United provinces was the first construction in this beautiful town.
Nainital is situated in Himalayan foothills and approximately 290 km away from Dehradun and 350 km from Delhi.
   Being an altitude of 2084 meters above sea level this town is in a small valley and it has a eye attractive lake which is approximately 3 km long and width of this lake is 1 - 1.5 km, surrounded by mountains which are covered with lush green forest and Rocks in this the highest is Naina( 2615m). From these mountains we get magnificent views 

  Of Great Himalaya and Nainital as well.
  
This town has cold weather around the year and this makes it special destination for family, friends for camping and Honeymooners. As it has a beautiful lake so if you love to do boating so this is perfect destination for you, other famous things are Chicken thuppa, Momo's Bhotiya market.
  
Apart from lake and market I'm highlighting few places which are most visited.
Naina Devi Mandir
This is the temple of mata Naina and it is believed that this is one of the 51 Sakthipiths which were separated from mata Sati. Nainital got is name on mata Naina this temple is located in malli tal on the bank of lake.

Naina Peak
Naina peak is famous as China peak or Cheena this is the highest peak of Nainital and situated on 2615 meters above sea level from here one can see an eye attractive view of Himalaya.
 
Pt. G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo
 
Situated an altitude of 2100 meters from sea level this is the zoo which was established in 1984 and this has honour to be zoo at highest level this was opened for tourists in 1995. In this zoo lot of species are present which are in red book like Snow Leopard, Himalayan Bear, Tibetan wolf etc.

Snow View
One of the best viewpoint in Nainital and this is situated at 2270 meters above sea level it has lot of hotels to be inn for tourists and this offers you a perfect view of snow capped Himalayas with the major peaks like Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot and Trishul.

Kilbury
This is one of the high altitude bird sanctuary of India this is 2000 meters above sea level and this has 250 different species of birds which includes resident and migratory as well.

 Eco Cave Gardens
 Eco cave garden is an artificial cave which has become one of the main attraction of Nainital in recent years it has 7 caves which have narrow and small Ways which make you feel like you are in real cave.
