Dehradun Tourism

Dehradun is capital and one of the most populous cities of Uttarakhand.
Dehradun is part of Garhwal region and 236 km away from national capital Delhi.
  Dehradun is under muncipal corporation.
Official name of this town was Dera during British rule and because of the tarain area it is the first choice of people to live here which is reason of population explosion.
Dehradun is situated at Soon valley on the foothills of great Himalaya between Ganga and Yamuna. This is famous for picturesque landscape and lush green jungles. This is well connected with queen of hills Mussoorie, Auli and other holy city like Haridwar and Rishikesh along with Char Dham Yatra.
Basmati, bakery products and litchis are others things which are world famous. Dehradun is well decorated with academics and research institutes like Indian Military Academy(IMA), Rashtriya Indian Military College, Forest Research Institute( IFI) and Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology.

Tourism In Dehradun
If we talk about tourism destinations in Dehradun so this if full of visitable spots and these include the Dehradun Zoo, Kalanga Monument, Chandrabani, Himalayan Gallary cum Regional Science Centre Guchhupani, Forest Research Institute, Tapovan, Lakshman Siddha Peeth, Tapkeshwar Temple, Santala Devi Temple, Mindrolling Monastery, Prakasheshwar Mahadev Temple, Sai Mandir, Central Braille Press and Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology.

The tourist destinations can be divided into four or five areas: nature, sports, sanctuary, museums and institutions. The nearby hill stations are well known for their natural environment, temples for its faith dimensions, sanctuary for animal and bird lovers. Hill stations include Mussoorie, Sahasradhara, Chakrata, and Dakpathar. Famous temples include Tapkeshwar, Lakhamandal and Santala Devi.
Maharana Pratap sports complex is full sized ice arena of India and it has honor to hoste I e skating tournament  and IIHF tournament of Asia.

In religious place Ma Bala Sundari Temple is situated near Dehradun which is dedicated to Goddess Bala Sundari, known as childhood of mata Vaishno Devi, a manifestation of the Hindu Mother Goddess Mahalakshmi. 
This is approximately 4 km from Dehradun, Indian Forest institute is also one of the best places to visit.
