Kedarnath is 223 km away from Rishkeah and situated at the height of 3583 m above see level.

 The township itself cannot be called attractive, as it is built on a barren stretch of land on the shores of Mandakini river but the surrounding scenery of Himalayas and lush green pastures makes it an attractive location for pilgrimage and majestic Kedarnath peak stands behind the Kedarnath temple.

Apart from Kedarnath temple Kedarnath is a name of a village as well which has gained importance because of this Temple. thia is a nagar panchyat in Rudraprayag district.  The nearest road head is at Gaurikund is about 16 km away.  A mythological account ascribes the temple's construction to the legendary Pandava brothers mentioned in the Mahabharata. this named came into existence in the Skand Purana, which names Kedara (Kedarnath) as the place where Shiva released the holy waters of Ganga from his matted hair, resulting in the formation of the Ganges river.

As it is known that this was built up by Aadiguru Sankaracharya in order to make  4 dhams and intact India.

 This is also a best location for trekking and wildlife lovers and per years millions of people visit in this area lot of yoga lovers come here because of its small caves which are used as Dhayna Kendra.

This is one of the best places in Uttarakhand which should be visited by every Hindu and nature lover.
