Neem Karoli Baba (1900- 11 September 1973) is famous among his devotees as Maharaj Ji or Gurudev. Maharaj Ji was a Guru(spiritual Guru), mystic and devotee of Lord Rama. As he is famous in India, He has more devotees outside of India in which mostly from America. In 1960-70 who came in India most well known spiritual Gurus are Ram Dad's and Bhagwan Das and a world famous musician Krishna and Jai Uttal.
His Ashrams are in around the world in which most ancient and his Karma Ashram is Kainchi Dham and apart from this other Ashrams are in
Vrindavan, Rishikesh, Shimla, Neem Karoli village near Khimasepur in Farrukhabad, Bhumiadhar, Hanumangarhi, Lucknow, Delhi in India and in Taos, New Mexico, Australia and US.
Gurudev was born around 1900, in village Albarapur which is in Uttar Pradesh and his father was Durga Prasad Sharma and his name of childhood was Lakshman Dad Sharma. He left his home after his marriage at the age of 11 year and became a Sadhu who used to go door to door.

He did Tapasya at Vavania Mor bi in Gujrat and he used to be known as Tallaiya Baba, in Vrindavan people called him as Chamatkari Baba during his time two main Ashrams were built first at Vrindavan and second in kainchi Dham where he spent most of time as Maharaj Ji.
World famous Kainchi Dham was built up in1964 in this Dham Guruji Spent last 10 year of his life.
Premi Baba and Sombari Maharaj to perform Yoga here. This Ashram is situated on Almora road and 17 km away from main Nainital district headquarter and 8 km away from Bhowali. It is a big Dham for people and every year on 15 on June A big Bhandara takea place here in which it is visited by lakhs of devotees.
In 1974 Steve Jobs with his friend Dan Kottke Visited India to know about Hindusim and spirituality so they visited Kainchi Dam, during Zuckerberg bad time he came in Kainchi Dham and stayed for 1 month.
Kainchi Dham is known as one of the most Visited Ashrams in the world and famous among people, people come here to get blessings from Gurudev.
